2008, Pickups reach a new level WRC Grönholm could return to Rallycross.. F1 Rosberg fearful over Singapore safety..

We are a UK based Motor Racing team. Competing in the 2008 Pickup Truck Racing Championship.
The Pickup Truck Championship is an obvious choice for the Cheerios team, with crowd pulling wheel to wheel racing and professional organisation, amongst a large contingent of the very best talent in British Motor Sport.
At the heart of the championship calendar are four dates on the 1.5 mile oval at Rockingham where the Pickups have become firm favourites with race fans.
Back in 1994 Sonny Howard first had the idea of proper racing Pickups but it was so radical at the time that nobody would have done it. Sonny knew however that he could build a proper racing machine that people would be queuing up for. 'We wanted to take a piece of America and transport it back to England, but we created something that could also work in Europe.'
Some of the purist racing is found in Pickup Trucks. Door handle to door handle with no quarter asked or given, Pickup racing is frequently breath-taking and the sturdy Truck is a great racing machine. There is a saying in America that goes along the lines of 'if you ain't rubbin', you ain't racin'.
It was an expression that could have been coined for the Pickups. The sheer closeness of the racing ensures that the Trucks race mere inches apart, sometimes even closer, but this does not indicate poor driving standards. The drivers have a mutual respect and they will give each other just enough room, but not an inch more than is absolutely necessary, of course!!
First launched in 1997, the Pickup series is for purpose built 230bhp racing specials. A tubular spaceframe chassis follows well-proven SHP Motorsport principles and the racers are pushed along by a 2 litre multi-valve twin-cam engine. Weighing in at just 900kg, these dramatic machines place the emphasis firmly on driver ability.
Dates for 2008 include four visits to the UK’s fastest motor racing venue, Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby, plus several other premier circuit venues throughout the UK and Euroupe.
The car will be prepared by Maximum Attack Motorsport and driven by team Driver, John Stant. The team will compete in all of the 2008 Pickup Truck Championship rounds.
The Nestle Cheerios backed team have a rather varied Motorsport background with many successes and achieving championship honours in several motor sport disciplines, rallying, circuit racing, and sprinting amongst them.
In 2006 we made our debut in the thrilling Pickup Truck racing series and were runners up in the Rookie Championship. 13th in the Overall Championship and a creditable 11th in the Rockingham based Oval series.
Please come and visit us at any of the forthcoming race venues you will be made very welcome. Don’t forget to keep up to date with our latest news and results by being a regular visitor to the Cheerios Racing web site… we looking forward to playing our part in another very exciting racing season.
